Legendary soure of design and vintage, Nickey Kehoe’s flagship store is now on Beverly Boulevard in the Fairfax neighborhood of LA

Carving out space for everything from the most sacred boutiques to local sources of inspiration, Los Angeles is still an essentail oasis of design in the US. And now, with energy from the recent LA Design Festival radiating across the city, it felt like the perfect moment to immerse ourselves in this richly layered and globally influential design scene.

Over the course of several days, Morpholio set out across LA — venturing to the coastal hubs of Venice and Malibu, weaving through Silver Lake and downtown, and exploring the polished showrooms of Fairfax, La Brea and West Hollywood. What we found was a city defined not by one aesthetic, but by its fearless mixing of tradition and experimentation, ease and elegance, storytelling and global reach. Here are just a few highlights from our time on the ground.

Nickey Kehoe

820 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069

Nickey Kehoe is more than a store — it’s a philosophy of living. Every room is a story, told through layered textures, soulful antiques, sculptural forms, and a certain restraint that never feels cold. For interior designers, it’s a space to be reminded that a room can hold history without being stuck in time. The West Coast spirit is unmistakable here: laid-back but deeply refined, worldly but unpretentious.

Tumbleweed & Dandelion

1502 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291

Nestled into the heart of Venice, Tumbleweed & Dandelion feels like a design love letter to California. The pieces are sun-washed, worn-in, and completely welcoming — driftwood tables, linen slipcovers, iron lighting, and outdoor-ready everything. It’s a destination for designers who value that elusive balance of casual charm and quiet sophistication. You feel the country or coast in the bones of every object.

Jenna Cooper’s space blends fine art, small-batch furniture, and conceptual design in a way that feels entirely of-the-moment. It captures something very “LA” — an openness to experimentation and the freedom to reinvent.

What defines LA design isn’t a look — it’s an approach. Bold but unforced. Expressive but easy. Deeply personal. For interior designers, the city offers not just product, but perspective. And for us, it offered renewed clarity on why we do what we do: to create spaces that elevate the senses, but are as beautiful as they are easy to live in.

California dreaming? Always.
